This Code of Conduct is in line with England Netball’s values, policies, and safeguarding guidance and applies to players, parents/carers, coaches, officials, volunteers, and spectators.
By participating in any Silvertown Storm Netball Club activity, all individuals agree to abide by this Code of Conduct.
1. Players’ Code of Conduct
Players are expected to:
Play within the rules and spirit of netball
Respect and listen to coaches, officials, teammates, opponents, and volunteers
Demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times
Treat others with fairness, dignity, and respect
Accept decisions made by officials and coaches
Make every effort to attend sessions punctually and prepared
Wear appropriate kit and use equipment safely
Take responsibility for their own behaviour and actions
Refrain from bullying, discrimination, harassment, or abusive behaviour
Use social media and mobile phones responsibly and appropriately
Silvertown Storm Netball Club promotes development through positive behaviour. Persistent or serious breaches may result in disciplinary action.
2. Parent / Carer Code of Conduct
Parents and carers are asked to:
Encourage participation, effort, and enjoyment rather than outcomes
Support all players, not just their own child
Respect the role of coaches, officials, and volunteers
Avoid coaching or criticising from the sidelines
Raise concerns or complaints privately and respectfully through appropriate club channels
Promote the club’s values of respect, inclusion, and fairness
Ensure players arrive on time and are collected promptly
Communicate relevant medical, welfare, or attendance information to the club
Inappropriate or aggressive behaviour may result in action being taken by the club.
3. Coaches, Officials & Volunteers Code of Conduct
All coaches, officials, and volunteers commit to:
Prioritising the welfare, safety, and enjoyment of players
Treating all players equally and fairly
Creating a positive, inclusive, and development-focused environment
Acting as positive role models at all times
Maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
Upholding England Netball policies and procedures
Communicating clearly and respectfully with players and parents/carers
Holding appropriate qualifications, DBS checks, and safeguarding training where required

5. Breaches of the Code of Conduct
Any breach of this Code of Conduct may result in:
Informal discussion or warning
Temporary suspension from activities
Further disciplinary action in line with club and England Netball procedures
All actions will be proportionate, fair, and focused on maintaining a safe and positive environment.

1. Policy Statement
Silvertown Storm Netball Club recognises its responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people involved in netball. We are committed to creating a safe environment where all participants are protected from harm, abuse, and exploitation.
This policy is aligned with England Netball Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy and relevant UK legislation.
A child or young person is defined as anyone under the age of 18.

3. Roles & Responsibilities
Club Welfare Officer
The Club Welfare Officer (CWO) is the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns and works in line with England Netball guidance.
Receives and manages safeguarding concerns
Acts in the best interests of the child
Liaises with England Netball and statutory agencies where required

All Coaches & Volunteers
Have a duty of care to safeguard children
Must follow safeguarding procedures
Must report any concerns immediately
4. Recognising Abuse
Safeguarding concerns may include, but are not limited to:
Physical abuse
Emotional abuse
Sexual abuse
Neglect
Bullying or cyberbullying
Discriminatory or abusive behaviour
Concerns may arise from direct disclosure, observation, or changes in behaviour.
5. Responding to a Safeguarding Concern
If a child discloses information or a concern is identified:
Listen carefully and remain calm
Do not promise confidentiality
Reassure the child that they have done the right thing
Record the concern factually and accurately
Report immediately to the Club Welfare Officer
If a child is in immediate danger, contact emergency services
All concerns will be handled sensitively and confidentially.
6. Photography, Video & Social Media
Consent will be obtained before photographing or filming players
Images will be used appropriately and respectfully
Names will not be linked to images publicly
Inappropriate use of images or social media will be treated as a safeguarding concern
7. Safe Practice
Silvertown Storm Netball Club promotes:
Appropriate supervision at all sessions
Safe ratios of adults to children
Clear boundaries between adults and young people
Safe use of changing facilities
Transport arrangements that prioritise safeguarding
8. Complaints & Whistleblowing
Anyone who has concerns about the behaviour of a coach, volunteer, or member of the club is encouraged to report this without fear of reprisal.

9. Policy Review
This Safeguarding Policy will be reviewed regularly and updated in line with England Netball guidance and legislation.
